At Spring/Summer 2019 for the Christian Cowan fashion show, Bumble and bumble created the innovative hair looks for real-life Powerpuff Girls! Celebrity superstar Paris Hilton graced the runway.
 
“It’s beyond replicating the characters,” said Christian Cowan. “We’ve seen many animation-meets-fashion moments, but they always feel quite licensed with no real interpretation. I wanted to take it further. What I love about the Powerpuff Girls is that they really reflect society; it’s all about the ultimate acceptance and inclusion – and they’ve been doing female power since before it became a topic big conglomerates were jumping on to seem “cool.” They genuinely care. For me, this is truly a creative collaboration with a positive message about empowerment – being fierce and strong and loving life.
 
For hair, Bumble and bumble Global Fashion Director, Laurent Philippon, and I wanted to reflect the characters’ personalities – Bubbles, Blossom, Buttercup, Him, Mojo Jojo, Miss Bellum. While there’s a few literal translations, we really aspired to channel each attitude. We didn’t want anything to seem too soft. We wanted to feel in charge – like a superhero. It’s Superhero hair!”
 
“We drew inspiration from the characters, of course – not in the sense of reinventing a cartoon, but for what the Powerpuff Girls truly represent,” said Bumble and bumble Global Fashion Director Laurent Philippon.
